Hello songwriters! Are you missing the old days? Me too!

I hope that you are all doing as well these days, staying busy, writing music and connecting with other songwriters! As strange as these times have been, there have been some interesting new ways to connect to an even larger network of songwriters and make our community even stronger. That being said, here are some exciting weekly events for any songwriters looking to get out there more!

Monday Night:

Love Unity Music group hosts a weekly Monday open mic. I just found out about it and have yet to check it out, but I hear great things about it!

Wednesday night:

Wednesday nights, it’s “The Songwriter Showcase” hosted by Rory D’Lasnow! This one is on Instagram live every Wednesday night at 8pm. You can follow the event and tune in @thesongwritershowcase. You can also get more info on the event by messaging Rory @rorydlasnow. 🙂

Friday nights: The Greenpoint Songwriters Exchange hosts a monthly ZOOM songwriters exhange night. I attended last Friday and had a really great time. The host and songwriters are very friendly and welcoming to new attendees. 🙂

Saturday nights: It’s THE VIBE on Lockdown avenue, a songwriter showcase featuring NYC singer-songwriters from Astoria, Queens and beyond! It is brought to you by THE VIBE, the Astoria Music Collective, and Sidecar Studios. It happens every Saturday night at 8pm and is hosted by the band “4 Brown Eyes” on Facebook Live. Follow 4 Brown Eyes on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/4browneyes and tune in on a Saturday. (that includes tonight!)

Sunday nights: Socially Distant Fest hosts a musician showcase every 1st and 3rd of the month (see flyer below).

And…

I will be starting back up my weekly Sunday night open mic, this time virtually! I chose Sunday nights because I have been hosting my We Love Songwriters Open Mic in NYC for the past 3 years (at 3 different venues) and I would like to re-start this Sunday night tradition. This time we will have a feature artist like in the good ol’ days!

More on Socially Distant Fest:

Socially Distant Fest is a Facecbook group where musicians can go “live” and get a broader audience then just their own private Facebook pages! It’s a DAILY thing apparently. Here is more info on the invite.

I also heard about the People’s Music Network which has workshops and songcircles. For more info check out their website at peoplesmusic.org
